CBD: Can it help my anxious pet?

This is a question we get asked a lot, especially in the summer months when thunderstorms and recreational firework use increases. In fact, according to the American Kennel Club, more dogs are reported lost on the 4th of July than any other day of the year.

So how can we help calm and comfort our pets? CBD supplements can be natural option!

Before we discuss the specifics, let’s first clear the air (no pun intended). CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in cannabis, the plant associated with marijuana. Unlike THC (the main psychoactive compound in marijuana that causes a “high”), CBD is a non-psychoactive compound. It has been used in medicines and supplements for both humans and pets, and continues to grow in popularity.

We are big fans of Super Snouts Hemp Company, because they prioritize safety in every step of production. It’s veterinary formulated, and pharmaceutical grade (ie, safe for pets and good enough for humans!). The company is diligent in their CBD sourcing, using only USA organically grown hemp and every batch is tested for potency, non-detectable THC and safety.

Super Snouts has both an oil and a chewable for your pets’ use, and many varieties that will target different ailments. Oils are likely to work faster, and they come in different potencies. Chews are great for pets that don’t easily take medicines or supplements.

Specifically for anxiety and stress, we recommend either the “Plain Jane” or “Chill Out” variety. These are grain free, veterinary approved products that promote relaxing behaviors.

Here’s another cool thing: after developing a fan-base for their pet products, Super Snouts has created water-soluble gel caps for human use. If you are looking for assistance with stress, joint pain or relaxation, consider Soul Vibe gel supplements.

Lastly, the other reason we support this company is because they give back to a cause near and dear to our hearts.  Super Snouts / Soul Vibe products donate a portion of their profits to helping homeless pets.
