Did you know?

Pet Evolution is a big fan of Minnesota made products, and that includes Zignature® dog food.

Zignature creates nutritious well-balanced food for dogs with meat-first and limited ingredient recipes.  And it’s formulated in both Perham, Minnesota (population 2,985) and Mitchell, South Dakota (home of the Corn Palace!).

The nutritionists and food scientists that make Zignature products promote a Physiologically Tuned™ diet for your canine companion. While we all consider our pets to be members of the family, their ancestors were very much wild, carnivorous animals who thrived by hunting prey. Zignature products mirror this natural diet: high in protein and limited in content.

This ensures your dog is receiving proper protein while minimizing possible allergens and food sensitivities that can have negative effects on their health. Some negative side-effects of food allergies include itchy skin, excessive scratching or licking, bald patches, ear infections, skin infections, diarrhea, and vomiting.

Since All Zingature recipes are free of the top dog allergens (Corn, Wheat, Soy, Dairy, Chicken and Eggs) Zignature foods an optimal hypoallergenic, grain free, and low carbohydrate nutritious option for your pet. The company researches each ingredient for the benefits it can bring to the life of your dog, and sources from responsible vendors in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Western France.

It’s not just the nutritious food that sets Zignature apart from your average pet food brand. Food safety is their number one priority. In fact, Zignature products have never had a recall.

Zignature’s team works closely with the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).  Zignature recipes are formulated to meet all the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles. This certifies that Zignature is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water.

Zignature also works with BSM Partners, an independent consulting firm which partners with more than 500 pet companies on creating more than 800 products every year—from cat and dog food and treats, to zoo animal diets.

And get this: After each recipe is produced in their kitchens, Zignature deploys a three-step cleaning process to clean equipment ensuring pure recipes.  First, all equipment is thoroughly cleaned. Second, they produce 750 pounds of the new recipe and then destroy all of it. Third, they make an additional 100 pounds of the new recipe and then package and discard it. This is likely an expensive endeavor for the company, but we consider it proof that they are investing in the safety of their product and the health of your pet!

These are some of the reasons why Pet Evolution proudly stocks Zignature products. If you are interested in learning more about Zignature foods, come in to one of our stores and talk with a staff member.

(For our cat customers, please be patient! We are excited that Zignature has announced they are currently developing recipes for our feline friends, but they have not shared when they will bring it to market.  Knowing Zignature, they are making sure the product is the best it can be for your pet!)
